The Consuming Emptiness

The past is forever gone now
Softly cradled in the hands of time
So many things were spoken then
Now the right words are hard to find

The emptiness consumes me daily
As I struggle with these emotions
It’s so hard to continue my life
Without my true loves devotion

As the fading dusk quickly approaches
I feel my heart sinking lower in my chest
Knowing that I don’t have you here
Makes it difficult to find peaceful rest

I don’t hate you like you think I do
I was angry, hurt, and confused
But hatred is not a feeling that I had
I felt my heart was ripped apart and refused

I want you to find your complete happiness
Where ever it may be found in this life
I will step aside now to let you pass by
I do not want to cause you further strife
